I have the Mac version of Adobe Premiere CS3. I get an error message when trying to create a movie file from the timeline that says MPEG transport stream error from "chosen raw.mpeg". I shot with my canon XH-A1 and used a sony HD camcorder as a 2nd camera. Would mixing the footage from two totally different cameras cause an error when it comes to editing?

MPEG transport stream errors normally relate to audio and the different sampling rates used to record the footage.

It's possible the audio was recorded differently causing the error. For example, one camera could have had the 48K stereo setting while the other had 48k mono setting. You may also want to make sure your timeline's audio settings match up with your footage.

Graham asks a question about a video camera & automatic gain control on audio. He?s using a Sony DCR-TRV38 Mini-DV video camera, and a lav mic for audios running through a small audio board then back to the camcorder. The problem is that the camcorder has automatic gain control that can?t be turned off . Whenever he pauses for a moment, the camera jacks up the audio level revealing noises and hums. Then, when he starts talking again, the first few words of his voice are hot before being automatically slammed back down again by the gain control. Someone made the statement that on a digital video deck you want to keep the levels below -10db because above that you're into distortion. Further they state that 0db is the same as clipping. I was under the impression that attempting to exceed 0db yields clipping, since there isn't anything over 0db. Soundforge definitely makes a distinction between 0db and "clipped". I?m looking for a program that would produce a sound track of simulated instruments. I have no instruments, but can play piano and keyboard. I have heard of Sound Forge and of Cubase . Would one of these do? Any other easy to use program?
