Making Video Files Private

Question: I wish to send a video to a friend. It is a home-video of several GB in size. Would you have any suggestion on how to make the video available to watch by friends, and in the same time keeping privacy?

Answer: Here’s what I would do.

1. Transcode the video to a smaller h.264 mp4 file using Handbrake.
2. Sign up for a Dropbox account and put the video in the folder called “public”.
3. Right-click the file to copy and paste a private link via email.
