No Business Coming Through Your Website? This is Why:
Robert asks: We just launched a new website as a supplement to our existing marketing material which points to the new site we created. We’ve been aggressively marketing and pushing the website to potential clients, but we’re not getting any calls. Can you give some advice on what we need to do on making our site work for us and not against us?
Answer: Aggressively marketing your website?
Why are you not aggressively marketing your services THEN point potential clients to your website?
Anyway, there are a multitude of advice forums and information about web design on the Internet. Everyone tells you how to design a web in three easy steps and why you can do it yourself and save money.
Yes, there are easy, understandable templates available that will do all the work for you and you simply fill in the blanks. If you want a hobby website to simply show your friends and family what you latest projects look like and share general information with others, this is an acceptable format to use.
When you run a business in the cutthroat marketplace of the Internet, things change radically. You need to step up your website’s design and overall purpose.
I visited your site Rob and it looks great….there are a few areas of improvement that need to be made for it to become more effective…
We had a webinar recently called Principals of Effective Website Design for Video business – We took data compiled from a focus group who visited and reviewed the 200+ videographer websites we gave them to look at.
We started noticing a theme in the focus group’s comments, suggestions and what they were looking for in each website. A common theme started to form.
With this information, we came up with a list of MUST HAVE elements every videographer’s website should contain to be successful and satisfy the needs of visitors who are looking for their services.
To get the full list (8 Requirements for Creating Effective Web Sites) you have to watch the webinar we recorded on July 17th – it was eye opening for the people who attended.

Here’s a bit of free advice about making an effective web site: check your spelling by eye, don’t rely on your spell-checker. Plurals don’t take apostrophes (eg. “company’s”); there’s a difference between “there” and “their” and between “alternate” and “alternative”. etc.
