SDHC Card Classes Explained
Tims asks: Can you explain the class system for SDHC cards? The information out there is confusing and conflicting. For example: there are some class 10 cards showing as 10MB/s but class 10 cards typically say 24MB/s on them. Class 4 says 4MP/s but class 4 cards say 15MB/s, and class 6 cards (6MB/s) say 30 MB/s on them. Then there’s Kodak 16GB card that says 60X, no “class”. 60 times what? Then, what cards/brands/speed are best suited to HDSLR video? Many say class 10. Which brands are best? What is the actual transfer speed to look for?

yes
do you use those SDHC cards for your youtube videos
Class doesnt matter if your memory card is fake. it only works with original ones.
The Class specification defines the “minimum” sustained transfer rate. So for instance, Class 4 like you have means that the minimum sustained transfer rate will be 4 megabytes per second.. That doesn’t mean they can’t in some situations transfer faster then their Class though, the key word is “minimum”. I’ve seen some Class 10 cards out but they are expensive. Give it a few months and the capacity and Class will be higher and cheaper.
Good info, I didn’t know that (saw the number, wondered what it was) thanks
The main difference is the speed with which these cards read and write data. For HD video class 4 and class 6 cards are sufficient.
SDHC? Sounds like ninja gear to me..is that super atomic infrared ink in that pen?

One should also mention that these cards come in different classes. Next to the SDHC logo you can see a small circle with a number. Your cards happen to be class 4 cards. There are also class 6 (and higher) cards which are more expensive. The main difference is the speed with which these cards read and write data. For HD video class 4 and class 6 cards are sufficient.
