Alan asks: I’ve learned to use and love FCP7 and thinking of upgrading over to FCPX… or is it an upgrade? Does it have all of the same features? is it faster? effects are all there? I would like to see a side by side comparison. Thanks!

Hi all.
Thanks for the interest and hope it has been of some use. We did this when it first came out and our views still haven’t changed in the last couple of months.
Again this was a video that we just did as we went along, not a scientific experiment by any means. Shortcuts etc are obviously things we use, but we didn’t want to fake anything we just did it in one take and see how it went from there.

B wasn’t cut before??? I don’t think so. Menu bar to render? Try Command H. Dude, learn your shortcuts, it’ll speed up your editing. I’ve been editing on FCPX for two weeks. It is a dog! Every time I try to really work with titles it crashes. I spent 2 hours doing rolling titles for a film, quit the program, reopened the program and all of that work was gone! You really don’t seem to know too much about what you are talking about.
Why don’t Apple teams call it iMovie Pro instead of Final Cut Pro X? And Apple should make an update Final Cut Pro 8 with the same Final Cut Pro interfaces so that many Final Cut Pro editors don’ t have to spend time, money, and efforts to learn the new software (Final Cut Pro X) which they don’t like. This “Final Cut Pro X” causes so many confusions to many Final Cut Pro editors.

Yep, you are the target consumer that Apple wants to attain. They are leaving the Pros out of the equation. Avid used to be the industry standard anyways. If you want to be a pro editor… FCPX is unfortunately not the software for you.

Great vid man …. Would like to try out Final cut pro x but going to stick in the relm of imovie for a while until i hear more feedback about the program
nice video! i think Final Cut Pro X wins big time. The lack of rendering makes it so easy to use, the UI is user friendly, and I have been using it for a while and it has given me 10x better productivity
