What to do when an AVI file gets corrupted

Ok, it happens to everyone- you’re capturing video when suddenly the power goes out or your computer suddenly turns off without reason. Upon reboot, you find the video you captured is still there but it is corrupt. You try to play it, but no player seems to work. They all display the “Could not render stream” error message. AAAAAAAAAHHHH!

Hold on, hold on. Before you delete that file and get rid of the past 2 hours of video you downloaded, there is hope. Repairing a captured video file is possible. Sometimes it’s as simple as replacing headers, or using one of many free software products that can repair AVI files found in the Download Vault. Click the UTILITIES & PLUGINS tab then find FILE RECOVERY and you’re there!
